This production management role is key to the expansion of the studio and ability to produce quality animation content at scale. The role is primarily focused on supporting our productions through our production management tracking tools. The perfect candidate will have in-depth pipeline knowledge from having worked on several productions in either Series, Features or both, with strong experience in Shotgun, awareness of key efficiencies, and a keen interest in other production management tools. This role provides streamlined tools and resources to create, connect, and collaborate with productions across the world. 

This unique role will partner with cross-functional teams across all of Netflix from technical operations to title management, and everything in between.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the various series and feature productions to help them establish their production tracking and planning workflows
  • Formalize our approach to shotgun scheduling and standardize asset, sequence, and shot task management for both series and features
  • Support the onboarding of productions: rolling out appropriate show templates for scheduling, asset and shot tracking, and tasks
  • Work with the studio production team to standardize data collection
  • Work with artists to define, onboard and continue to support their experience
  • Provide training and support to the producers and show leadership
  • Effectively and efficiently gather feedback and problem solve for pain points and bottlenecks
  • Prioritize needs of the shows and develop mid and long term goals focused on strategic outcomes
  • Effectively communicate the need for additional resources and what those resources are
  • Work closely with the TDs to manage the tools feeding into and out of Shotgun
  • Communicate expansion of show specific Shotgun tools to the larger studio
  • Key role in strategizing and facilitating the testing and roll out of new features and tools to shows.
  • Communicate accurate timelines for tool support, bug fixes, and new features to both the productions and to the studio
  • Be open to new ideas and be willing to innovate. Propose improvements with realistic plans and timelines
  • Liaise with technical managers, key engineering stakeholders and animation representatives to ensure milestones are achieved in a timely manner
  • Create a group of shotgun champions who meet regularly to share knowledge and experiences, both at Netflix and prior to Netflix
  • Gather and formulate our long term needs for production management tools and work with the product management group to prioritize development

Qualifications

  • 8 - 12 years experience in animation production
  • Highly technical and effective communicator able to manage complex tasks cross functionally, perform in-depth strategic analysis and provide executive recommendations with thoughtful support
  • Motivated, disciplined, and able to work autonomously
  • Experience developing and rolling out Shotgun for another large-scale animation studio. Super-user experience for both production use and reporting
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages of production
  • Up to date on new production technologies and ability to adapt them to new trends
  • Thrives on technical challenges and takes pride in solving them
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical program and operations management preferably in a software, gaming or a studio/production environment
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework experience
